Immigration Policy and the Rise of Self-Employment among Mexican Immigrants

The recent dramatic growth in self-employment among Mexican immigrants the United States past two decades is a puzzling trend, stark contrast to stagnant or even decline other demographic groups. authors propose that expansion of interior immigration enforcement, characteristic US policy during time span, contributed this unique trend by pushing into as an alternative livelihood. Exploiting temporal and geographic variation enforcement measures from 2005 2017, show tougher has been responsible for approximately 15% rise States.
